Teal and Pistachio Part 2

2 Dec

From last week’s post, here is part two of Mr and Mrs Gerbera’s wedding.

Brides Look

The dress and shoes were from the UK. I am feeling the whole flats for reception idea…

Hair: Di’s salon, Uganda house braided and Di styled my hair :-D. Di’s work was OK but the lady who styled two of my bridesmaids (still same salon) did a pretty impressive job!

First night: Intercontinental – loved the complimentary fruits and wine! Bath tub was small but ok. They did our laundry…they are ok, but I still think Laico regency laundry do a better job!

Massage on the eve of the wedding: Akai- she’s a blind lady who gives the option of coming to your house :-)She might request that you pick her and drop her from Yaya. One and a half hours of massage. Loved her work!

Evening dress: NEXT at junction. They have a variety of dresses and great customer care.

Caterers: Merit Caterers

What bride said: She outdid herself, she definitely delivers! Abundant food, fruits, meat…and brought enough waiters as well. I didn’t taste the food myself…as in we were served BUT I can’t tell you how it tasted.

Master of Ceremony: Wangu Wachira.

What bride said: FANTASTIC. Very professional…dressed very well ;-)…was humourous, and what I give her marks the most for- she was an excellent manager of time and people!

Entertainment: Kayamba Africa

What the bride says: … Cliché  I know- lol! Live band. I was very skeptical BUT they totally impressed. They made us dance and dance and dance…had nice music playing in the background when they needed to…ah! they impressed us totally.

Cards: Paper presentations.

What the bride says: Mwende did a fantastic job. She is a lovely person and will work with your budget NO MATTER what it is. She threw in many many many things. She is one busy person but doesn’t disappoint!… What I mean is she did not disappoint us!

Mobile Toilets: Excloosive.

What the bride says: They delivered :-D.

Tents and Non-Floral Decor – Flowers by Cathy

First let me say that when I got the pictures of the tents, the first question I asked was whether it had rained on their wedding day and no it had not.

What the bride says: Disappointment is an understatement. The only thing she didn’t do is not to bring tents and chairs. Her output was….to summarize…a DISASTER! Note to self: she’s a florist…enough said. Referral: I read about her tents from Raspberry Weddings and she’s done a couple of my friend’s weddings BUT they were small weddings. P.S. she talks like an angel…beware…be warned!

My Comment: Question my readers, who has had an experience with Flowers by Cathy? Good? Bad? Email me: ciikusblog@gmail.com

Finally, I want to thank Mrs Gerbera for sending her wedding and her service providers my way. I do believe that is one of the avenues we can use to assist future brides – whether we discuss the better or the not so good vendors. If anyone has felt inspired to send their wedding, please feel free to email me.

Thanks and may God bless your union.

Beautiful colour scheme, as for the tent provider, pole sana.
Cathy actually did our wedding in september and everything was superb! All the tents were clean and well set up and lined, the seats and the flowers were on point.
Just goes to show how we all get different experiences with various vendors. Pole

Very true…experiences can be quite different. Unfortunately it’s just ONE day, which people don’t intend to repeat so…such messes are just unacceptable. I’m happy that she came through for you though :-D.

Thanks for this rave review. The memories of your wedding still send tingles up my spine. Can you believe I DID NOT notice the tents or the decor? I was busy noticing the teal and pistachio hehe.

Pole about Flowers by Cathy. Crying shame. Really.

    Hey Chiku,

I am getting married end of July this year and having trouble finding an MC. Any ideas from all the feedback you get? We are Luo and Kikuyu so we’d love someone who won’t alienate either side of the families. Bilingual is a lot to ask but would be wonderful. Nonetheless Swahili and English will do. An MC who keeps the reception lively and has great humor and is diplomatic. Your blog is awesome. I was in shock to find that you selected colors like mine (black, white and green) and that we had a lot of similar taste.
